DUBAI – One of the fastest growing channels of instant messaging, Snapchat, has launched many new features and has added an advertising turn (we wondered when this would come in) to its theme. The biggest addition to the upgrade is a tab called ‘Discover’ which enables snappers to explore a range of other media outlets including National Geographic, Cosmopolitan, ESPN and Yahoo! News to name a few.
According to a release, Snapchat reveals that other “Social media companies tell us what to read based on what’s most recent or most popular. We see it differently. We count on editors and artists, not clicks and shares, to determine what’s important.”
The Discover tab will be refreshed every 24 hours and will resemble the Snapchat format.
However, this new feature comes at a cost. The cost here is losing the ability to see who someone’s ‘Top friends’ are. So if you like the ability to stalk when you want, stay off the upgrade, till it becomes mandatory.
