Samsung Gulf Electronics went all out launched their latest flagship offering, the Galaxy Note 7, with a lot pomp and pride at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jumeirah, Dubai, last night.
Samsung accepted by many as the Android OS’s best representation launch the Galaxy Note 7 with “refined craftsmanship, premium materials and a unique symmetrical edge design.”
Galaxy Note 7 highlights include:
- A water resistant body and S Pen (IP68)*.
- Top-of-the-line security that combines Samsung Knox with biometric authentication including a new iris scanning feature.
- Immersive entertainment features with HDR video streaming capabilities.
Verdict
Tarek Sabbagh, Head of IT and Mobile (IM) Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics said “With the Galaxy Note7 we have reinvented the large-screen smartphone segment with a unique combination of productivity tools, entertainment services and security features.” However, with a length of just 5.7 inches, I don’t think this is very “large-screen.”
I believe Samsung will soon have to better differentiate their Galaxy Note brand line from the Galaxy S line as both of them seem to be converging. What do I mean by this?
Well, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge both being launched earlier this year are 5.1 inches and 5.5 inches respectively with very similar features to the Galaxy Note 7. (So, why buy any of these?)
To sum it up, however, Samsung, I would say, has improved on its previous offerings with the Galaxy Note 7 with some features that are cool like the ability to scribble on it anytime and the water resistance.

The Galaxy Note7 will be available starting August 19, in Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx and a recommended retail price of AED 2999. A 128 GB microSD card will be supplied to complement the 64GB of internal memory.
