As the UAE marks Zayed Humanitarian Day, Dubai Cares has officially launched the 2017 edition of Volunteer Globally. Registration for the initiative is now open through the UAE Volunteer Platform.

This year’s edition, in line with the UAE’s “Year of Giving 2017”, will take place between October 21 and 28 and will involve 15 volunteers from the UAE who will travel to the Kailali district in Nepal’s Far Western Region to support the locals in constructing a new school in their community.

What It Involves: Dubai Cares Volunteer Globally is a weeklong mission to build a school in a developing country. If selected as a volunteer, you will assist in digging, picking, mixing concrete and making bricks. You’ll be able to learn the local culture and values, meet families, and build positive perceptions for the local population.

Before the trip, volunteers will also receive a comprehensive briefing, covering the ground situation in Nepal, socio-economic background and an overview of the activities that will be undertaken as part of the school-building mission.

Important Dates/Deadlines

Registration Deadline: All interested volunteers, 21 years of age and above, are encouraged to visit www.volunteers.ae to register by June 28, 2017.

Dubai Cares will then shortlist 50 applicants based on the responses provided in the application, with priority given to volunteers who register first.

July 17 and 24, 2017: The 50 shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in one-on-one interviews.

Following the interview process, Dubai Cares will select the 15 volunteers who will participate in Volunteer Globally 2017 in Nepal.
