Review: Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017

Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017

The Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017, simply put, looks like a car from one of those awkward years after the turn of the millennium that designers were not quite sure which way they wanted to go i.e. post modern 90s or digital sleek.

But that’s just when you look at it on the surface, quite literally. The moment you open the doors of the Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017 you can smell the luxury, not just on the classy maroon leather seats. It’s even on the sleek doors and interior body.

After taking in all the luxury, coming to the drive itself, this rather classy V-6 beast takes off with ease. It has a steady yet powerful pick-up. The 3.6 L is terribly fuel-efficient and will change the way you associate fuel efficiency with just small cars.

One of the negatives of the Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017 is the Cadillac CUE system which powers the car. The system keeps hanging and is impossible to reset unless you turn off the engine and lock the car. When we say “keeps hanging,” at least once every two drives, which is more often my old windows computer.

(FYI: Debuting in 2016 ATS models, Cadillac’s CUE system with an eight-inch-diagonal multi-touch screen is compatible with Phone Projection”, a phone integration technology that puts iPhone features (iPhone 5 and later) on the display in a smart, simple manner. Many features can be controlled via voice commands through a steering wheel button, helping drivers spend more time with their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. A BOSE Centerpoint Surround Sound 12-speaker audio system with Active Noise Cancellation technology complements Cadillac CUE and is standard on all ATS sedans and coupes. The premium sound system also includes Bose Audio Pilot, which continuously monitors ambient sounds and adjusts the music volume and program content to optimize the listening experience.)

Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017

The Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017 is an amazing mix of great interiors, classiness and a really smooth and powerful drive. Below, we break down some of the highlights of the car, which help you make up your mind about buying this car:

The Drive

Will get you more Kilometers than you can imagine, if that is your objective. This car is best used in its tour engine mode to really impress a date. It’s not mellow in anyway, the sports tuned setting really gets your heart pumping and will get you drive requests from your friends. The sound of the engine itself isn’t quite the roar you would want but does not disappoint either. Selectable driver mode settings are standard and include Sport, Touring and Snow/Ice.

The Aesthetic

As previously mentioned, the Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017 is not the prettiest monster in the yard. However, when we say aesthetic we mean a lot more than how it looks in general. On a rainy day with the xenon lights turned on, the Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017 looks a different car and will add a lot of class to your profile. Inside the car, you can snap away in those leather seats and ooze power by simply just looking at the camera.

The Sound

Powered by the Cadillac Cue system, the BOSE sound is strong with good bass and passes all our sound tests. From Hardwell to the soundtrack of La La Land, the  Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017 can play them all. If anything, it’s only limited by it’s lack of genre-specific settings.

Statement Rating: Cadillac ATS Coupe 2017 (1=Don’t buy; 10=But it now!)
