You know those days when you wake up in the morning and you want to crawl back into bed because the work the day brings is too daunting too handle? We decided that you could do with a bit of help organizing, relaxing and staying motivated. Here’s where technology comes in: All hail the smartphone! Smartphones offer snazzy apps to increase work productivity and millions of people around the world use them effectively [And they work].

Here are a few iOS and Android applications that will be lifesavers amidst hectic schedules and a hundred things on your to-do-list. They can easily be installed through the official App Store or PlayStore for free, [Yes, you read it right – free]:

samcard

SamCard: Here’s one that’s great for networking. Simply click a picture of a business card and it automatically stores all the details of the person: phone number, email and additional information listed on the card. You won’t have to skim through stacks of business cards any more. Just install this app for increased convenience.

stop breathe and think

Stop, Breathe and Think: If you’re having an incredibly stressful day, take a thought vacation for 5 minutes with this app to relax and regain your ground. This app contains guided meditations [gratitude, healing sadness, dealing with anxiety, equanimity, compassion, joy, falling asleep] and allows you to determine the one that suits you best, at that moment, through a quick survey. Unlike other apps, the recorded voice is soothing and peaceful. Additionally, it helps keep track of your meditation schedule through the week.  A personal favorite and highly recommended.

Makeme

MakeMe: A great tool to ensure you don’t procrastinate and get your work done on time! An experience packed with elements of fun peer pressure, acting as a brilliant motivator.

Pocket

Pocket: A highly convenient app as it is used to save numerous articles, videos and web pages that you need to have on hand at all times.

Evernote

Evernote: A real blessing in disguise! Syncs all your notes, clippings, to-do lists and reminders. Save your time and energy with a bit of organization by securely saving all your files, photos, reminders, to-do lists, tweets and more in one app accessible from all your platforms (i.e. laptops, iPads, tablets, etc.). You can also email notes to yourself or others, and search within notes for easy access to any information. Organization and tabs make it much easier to sift through files and find files easily.
