Should You Watch it? | The Fast & Furious 7 Review

furious 7 review

I didn’t finish my NACHOS! So much action, I didn’t get to look down at my food or drinks.

Plot

Deckard Shaw (Statham), brother of Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) is driven to get serious revenge from Dominic (Vin Diesel) and crew for his brother’s death in Fast & Furious 6. He is smart, sharp, equipped, fast – like a shadow. Capable of assassinating the whole crew himself, can he overpower the strength of a team of 7?

Add-On Actors:

Jason Statham proved to be a very good add-on to the cast of the much awaited 7th edition of the Fast & Furious series. Nathalie Emmanuel [as Megan Ramsey (from television series Game Of Thrones)], Djimon Gaston Hounsou [(as Jakande) from Blood Diamond] and Kurt Russel [(as Frank Petty) from many films back in the 60’s & 70’s] were thoughtfully cast because of their superior acting skills – which they completely lived up to. Ali Fazal [(as a Cameo) from Bollywood] was a nice surprise.

This film has everything: A lot of drama, brimming with action sequences, a few emotional scenes, bits of romance and comedy and a lot of well-directed scenes, well-rounded characters played with finesse [i.e. they knew what they were doing in the story] and a background score that complemented all of the above.

Too Fast, Quite Furious

Hold on a second, am I missing something? Ahh, the story! Right.

Everyone expected this to be a fast paced film, but that doesn’t justify sprinting through the plot line. It’s all about the story. The cinematography made the well-crafted story look amateur, which shouldn’t happen in such big budget film. Also, why was Dwayne Johnson (as Luke Hobbs) cast with that small and surprisingly flat role?

Racing past speed bumps:

Despite the little bumps this film hit, it meets viewer expectations – zipping cars, great on-screen chemistry, dramatic turns and stunts. The tribute to Paul Walker was refined and evoked just the right amount of emotion. Furious 7 scores high on the action & creativity boards – Kudos to Wan and Chris Morgan (behind the screenplay) for MAKING those scenes. If only the script was more detailed, it would have satiated my hearty appetite.

Watch it for the best action scenes till date. Watch it for Paul Walker. Or else, if you’re up for an adrenaline rush, race to the cinema.

The B-Change verdict is a solid 7/10.
