Evaristti Art: Would You Kill Nemo?

Evaristti

Bhoomika Ghaghada Art Tid Bits ,,,,,,,,

Marco Evaristti, Danish-Chilean artist, is best known for his controversial art pieces, one of which you can see above. The entire display consists of blenders with water and live goldfish swimming inside. The blender is plugged in, leaving the viewer of the artwork with the choice of whether to press the on switch or let the fish be.

Many critics and protestors call it animal cruelty, but Evaristti insists that he asks people to look at the deeper meaning with his work.

Come to think of it, he never injures the fish, only the viewers have the liberty to do that. It questions our relationships with animals, our ideas of violence and dominance and puts a huge question mark on our humanity.

So, would you press the ‘ON’ switch?
