The Human Paintbrush: Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen

I whip my hair back and forth! I whip my hair back and forth!

Well, Manila born Danish performance artist, Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen does that quite literally as she takes the role of a human-paintbrush as she flips her hair back and forth on a large-scale paper.

Rasmussen’s painting above is a great example of ‘Beyond the brush’. It is an inventive use for media to inspire young artists to get out of their comfort zone; done to ignite ideas and excite artists to put their thinking caps on and look at art and mixed media through a different angle.

The key is to try to come up with an innovative method to use different mediums.

According to Painted Yoga founder, Sheri Sloane, you can even make this a performance while using your whole body to dance or even do yoga.

DIY: Dip your hair in a bucket of paint and make your way across a giant canvas, paper or wall.
