DUBAI – Michael Lynton, CEO Sony Entertainment, released a statement yesterday announcing the limited release of the James Franco-Seth Rogen starrer-The Interview in select cinemas across the United States of America. The release will be on Christmas day itself with many independent theatres supporting Sony in this release.

This statement represents a sort of U-turn on Sony’s side, as just last week, from deciding to not release the movie because of looming threats from hackers and North Korea, they now decide to release the movie in some theatres and with a possibility of its release on other platforms like (YouTube, Netflix, etc.).

According to reports from CNN, this statement comes after President Barack Obama’s urges to Sony to go ahead with the release.

It is still unknown if the movie will release in the United Arab Emirates.
