The Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) has been a sacred fixture among millennials across the region and specifically in the UAE.
Since its inception in 2012, MEFCC has garnered more Snapchat stories and attention then any other event of the same magnitude. And with good reason, as every year the guests coming in and the artists involved have grown and risen in stature.
Girls, boys and children of all ages and cultures flock to the Middle East Film & Comic Con with a sense of community and an expectation of being among peers who share similar interests. It’s fair to say that it has become a movement of sorts.
The word I will use, however, is, behemoth. MEFCC is a cultural behemoth. What then seemed like a couple o’geeks talking about comic books to now a beast of an event with more free media than a Star Wars premiere.
Talking about free media, (if you don’t already know) meet Arafaat Ali Khan. He’s the director of communications at The Alliance, the company that organizes MEFCC every year.
“Arf” can be seen buzzing around the Con sorting “stuff” out. We spoke to the sparky director of comms about how his team’s project has transformed and what maybe the reasons behind this success.
Here’s some insight into the best practices of the MEFCC (Middle East Film & Comic Con):
