ABU DHABI: The thrill of waving your arms in the air along with 16,000 people in close proximity, singing your favorite tracks with all the might of your lungs and grinning at the strange-looking man beside you, feeling overwhelming happiness, is an experience that you cannot express in an article. You have to be there. Arms waving and all.
It’s a beloved tradition in Abu Dhabi now. Every December, EDM lovers from all over U.A.E excitedly book hotels, dash for tickets and anxiously arrange transport to the Du Arena at Yas Island to enjoy the eight-hour long dance extravaganza organized by FLASH Entertainment, with [as always] a stellar line-up of DJs: Creamfields, Abu Dhabi. #CreamfieldsAD
This year is no different – On 12th December, crowds were teeming at the gates to get in early and begin enjoying the party fixture of the year. With acts like Afrojack, Swedish maverick Adam Beyer and Italian legend Marco Carola, strangers danced in unison as old room mates and old room mates carried each other across the different stages. Not to mention the world’s number one DJ – Hardwell, who sent waves through the arena with anthems such as Faded, Spaceman and Summertime Sadness. As Hardwell launched into the chorus of A Sky Full of Stars, you could feel the vibration of thousands chanting the lyrics. It was pretty impressive.
Scott Barton, owner of Cream, says “Now a permanent fixture and, undoubtedly, the highlight of the Abu Dhabi party calendar, the show gets better every year.” This year, we agreed. The show began and ended on a high-note for both EDM newbies and long-time lovers. It was an all-out rave and I, for one, finally understood the phrase “Go Hardwell or Go Home”.
