When the 20th FIFA World Cup kicked off in the Arena de Sao Paulo in Brazil on Thursday June 12th, it has since been under the watchful eye of more than a billion people. From villages in the farthest corners of the globe to crowded cities on all continents, the audience captivated.
All of them, wracked with anticipation, to witness a minute of virtuoso, like the moving feet of Diego Maradona in 1986, or a moment of frenzy, for example, when Zinedine Zidane lost and lost his head “literally” in 2006.
Will it be the wizardry of a specific player or the heroics of any of the contending countries that gets us yelling at the screens or arguing at the tables. Will Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Xavi, Van Persie or one of the 731 different players shine for their on-field heroics?
We know how the adrenaline rush of these deciding moments feel, and they only get better when coupled with good company, a buzzing ambiance and some drinks & sheesha don’t hurt either.
