Pushing crystals to their aesthetic limit, an Emirati conceptual artist and designer has collaborated with Swarovski to turn 1,145 Swarovski crystals and mirrored prisms into a work of art for #DXBDW2016.

You can witness the installation at its official unveiling on October 25, 2016.

The artist, Zainab Al Hashemi, borrows inspiration from tradition and creates interactive site-specific installations, spatial art and modern public sculptures. The installation at d3 is no exception.

Nestled amongst the towering steel and glass buildings of d3, the sight is one to behold as Al Hashemi has set 33 hexagonal mirrored-steel structures with 1,145 Swarovski crystals and mirrored prisms. That’s a lot of bouncing light.

Mounted horizontally, and standing 1.5m high and 3m wide, you can stand amidst the structures and enjoy an infinite series of kaleidoscopic views as the crystals reflect and refract the multicoloured light.

Interact with the reflections, explore the connections in between, and take advantage of an unbeatable surreal photo opp.

If you’re a fan of Swarovski, you’ll love this: Swarovski will be showcasing its inaugural collection for Atelier Swarovski Home at Dubai’s Downtown Design trade fair (October 25 – 28), held during Dubai Design Week. It is an annual collection of functional objects for the home, made in collaboration with luminaries from the worlds of design and architecture. This debut season’s nine designers include Zaha Hadid, Fredrikson Stallard, Tord Boontje and Aldo Bakker.

You can buy them at Etoile La Boutique, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai.
