Yasalam 2015 Finishes In A Blur

Britpop masters blur brought a rocking end to all race and music enthusiasts in the du Arena for the final concert of Yasalam’s landmark seventh year. Decades in the making, the group thrilled crowds with a captivating performance of ‘The Universal’, ‘Girls and Boys’ and ‘Parklife’. Filling the stage with energy, the group performed their hits as jumping visuals and neon ice creams from their eighth studio album, The Magic Whip, filled the screens.

Following the final guitar chord, the largest city-wide entertainment programme run by any race host city came to a climactic close with never-before seen Closing Ceremony including 3D laser artwork and confetti as fireworks lit the beaming arena faces. Ahead of the smash finish was blues up-and-comer, Barns Courtney who warmed up for the legendary British rockers.

The final Yasalam After-Race Concert show was the ultimate cap on three months of musical competitions, community activities, health, fitness and entertainment exemplifying Yasalam’s status as the only multifaceted and largest festival of its kind in the region.

Over the past weekend the Yasalam 2015 festival has built to a crescendo of excitement with 24 international and regional superstars gracing the stage at du Arena and on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. Yas Island was abuzz with excitement as Cheb Khaled, Fares Karam, Aryam and DJ Said Mrad alongside Enrique IglesiasFlorence + the Machine and blur performed for capacity crowds of 30,000 at the du Arena, where the excitement started even earlier with the new, interactive Village. 

Over on the Corniche, Volkswagen presents Beats on the Beach saw the likes of J.Cole, Tove Lo, Wael Kfoury, Arwa, Fayez Al Sayeed, Omar Al Marzooqi and Bamboo joined by Trey “AcE” SmithSaad LamjarredFar East Movement and Faithless to provide crowds from all backgrounds enjoyed the live entertainment throughout the three nights of free music.


Throughout the weekend and over on Yas Island, fans were treated to more artist action with the Live at Yas Mall Studio, which closed out a successful weekend with appearances from Barns Courtney and The Boxtones. 

The seventh year of Yasalam, organized by FLASH Entertainment, was the most successful yet in its unmatched seven-year history. People took advantage of the largest city-wide entertainment programme run by any race host city, which started earlier than ever before on August 17th. Since Yasalam’s inception in 2009 it has seen millions of people enjoy an unrivalled line-up of free concerts, events and community activities throughout seven stunning years. Bringing exciting entertainment and culture to the diverse communities of the UAE, the festival continues to be the highlight of the Abu Dhabi calendar.
