5. For something a little less loud, why not go to dinner at Al Iwan Restaurant at the Burj al Arab and head over and watch the stunning fireworks show at midnight? Located on the first floor, this Arabic buffet with elaborate décor caters to both meat eaters and vegetarians alike. With plenty of options for the main course and for dessert, it’s sure to be an intimate celebration to start the new year.

6. Don’t worry Sharjah folk, you have not been forsaken. This New Year’s Eve, Qanat al Qasba is the place to be. For a more low-key setting, but with all the zest of NYE, head over to one of the many restaurants – we recommend Nando’s for their divine chicken – and maybe for some dessert afterwards (there’s always room for dessert). Perhaps take a traditional dhow ride in the canal after your meal. Or maybe take a stroll on the corniche and then, at the stroke of midnight, look up to the sky to see Sharjah’s creative fireworks to get you in the mood for 2015.

7. The Hippie NYE Plan: With all the lights, glamour and action that NYE brings round, we seldom make conscious resolutions and look back on the year that was and plan ahead. Sure, the New Year shouldn’t be an excuse to make resolutions, but it can be a great way to come together with those closest to you and make positive changes in your life. This New Year’s Eve, try an eco-friendly spin and spend it outdoors with some friends, scented candles and no electricity. Put down a mat and some pillows, bring out some drinks and snacks and look back on 2014 and all that you are grateful for – because we have a lot. End the evening with some much-needed meditation and make it a point to incorporate living clean, green and mindfully for 2015 and all the years to come!

Whatever you decide to to do, we sincerely hope you have a splendid and memorable [either way] night. Happy New Year, folks!
