Alyssa Soriano ME Art Community ,,,,,,,,,,

As the scorching heat of the sun locks us indoors for a few months, we thought ‘What better way to spend the summer than to nurture the artist within?’ You may have longed for a creative outlet [especially if you work in an ad agency – ironically], or you haven’t yet played with the idea of exploring artsy avenues. Well, now’s the chance to it.

B-Change picks 5 art workshops in Dubai, so you can train to create something beautiful this summer:

Painting at We Love Art, Jumeirah

knife

Knock back a  glass of wine and create a pop art portrait.

We Love Art offers workshops with a trained instructor, Denise, to help you find your creative niche and create an impeccable piece of artwork. At the end of the 7-week workshop, you even get to showcase your piece at an exhibition [all inclusive]. Learn how to paint in a laid back environment and make an inspiring set of friends.

Take a look at their one day workshops if you’re looking to try something new. With a tinge of offbeat, they even have 1-Day ‘Pop Art’ classes and ‘Wine and Painting Nights’ for 3 hours – sounds like incredible fun, huh?

When: Classes run from 10:30am to 1:30pm every Saturday

How Much: Beginners course for 7 weeks AED 1,550

Where: Google map here.

For more information, visit the We Love Art website.

Decoupage at Dubai International Art Centre

decoupage

Snip and glue yourself something pretty.

What does this fancy word even mean? Decoupage involves decorating objects with colored paper cut out into fancy designs [not as simple as it sounds, folks]. This art form originated in Siberia where natives used it to decorate tombs. Present day, they can make the interior of a room pop with color or make for a brilliant gift add-on.

DIAC offers a 6-week workshop that teaches you how to use special effects of decoupage through painting, mosaics, gold leaf etc. The project will teach you how to work with a number of different techniques: print transfers onto objects/canvas, 3D decoupage, one stroke painting, painting on glass/wood, 3D relief art on paper and canvas.

Pick your poison!

When: Tuesday, Thursday 10am to 1pm

How much: Member’s fee AED 935 [For non-members, an additional 25%]

Where: Villa 27, Street 75b, Jumeirah 1 [Google map here.]
